Winter is Coming

As winter approaches and the beautiful white snow begins to fall, the Town of Irishtown–Summerside would like to remind residents of the importance of community cooperation during snow clearing operations. While snow can be magical and fun to play in, we all know it’s not so fun on the roads!

No Parking During Snow Clearing

We are asking residents not to park on roads or in turnarounds during snow clearing operations.

Many of our roads are quite narrow, and vehicles parked on the street make it difficult and unsafe for our plows to navigate.

If vehicles are parked on the road during snow clearing, your road may not be plowed as a result.

Vehicles interfering with snow clearing may be subject to a fine and may be towed at the owner’s expense.

Protect Your Property - Before the first snowfall, please take a few moments to ensure you don’t have any belongings that could be damaged or dragged away by the plows.

Check items such as: Garbage boxes, Fences, Yard decorations and any other items close to the roadside.

The Town and its contractors are not responsible for damage to garbage boxes, fences, etc. that impede or hinder snow clearing efforts.

Keep Fire Routes & Hydrants Clear

In an emergency, every second matters. Blocking fire routes or burying fire hydrants in snow can delay emergency response.

If you see a fire hydrant covered in snow, we kindly ask that you take a few minutes to clear around it, if you are able to do so safely.

When we all work together and do our part, we can minimize frustrations and help keep our community safe and accessible all winter long.
